THE Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) has arrested a local man after seizing more than 100 cartons of cigarettes at a house located in Kg Setia B in Kampong Ayer on Thursday.

The RBPF in a statement yesterday said that the Anti-Vice Investigative Unit of the Crime Investigation Department raided the property in Kg Setia B at night and detained the 20-year-old man after the police found contraband goods.

“Among the seized items were a total of 140 cartons of cigarettes, which were suspected to have been smuggled in illegally from a neighboring state.”

The case will be transferred over to the Royal Brunei Custom and Excise Department.

The RBPF expressed its thanks to members of the public who had cooperated in providing information into the case, and urged for their continuous support in working together to curb crime.
