Japanese minister pays courtesy visit to MoD

THE Minister of Development yesterday received a courtesy call from His Excellency Hiroshi Okada, Senior Vice Minister of Cabinet Office, Japan.

Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Suyoi Hj Osman, who is also the Deputy Chairman of the Brunei Monetary Authority (AMBD), received the courtesy call at the AMBD office in the Ministry of Finance Building.

During the meeting, Okada, who is also responsible for Japan’s Financial Services Agency (FSA)) and the development minister discussed a number of matters, including current world economy trends, as well as regional and bilateral cooperation issues, specifically in the areas of banking and finance.

Following this, AMDB Managing Director Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Rosli Hj Sabtu also held a bilateral session with Okada and his delegation to discuss the objectives and functions, as well as an overview of the monetary and financial sectors’ developments in Brunei.

The Japanese Senior Vice Minister then proceeded to visit the AMBD Currency Gallery.

Also present during the courtesy call were the Ambassador of Japan to Brunei, Kenichi Suganuma, as well as senior officials from both AMBD and the FSA.
