A POWER outage hit several areas in the Brunei-Muara district last night after the main transmission line from the Gadong Power Station to the Tungku 66kv substation was damaged.

The Department of Electrical Services (DES) said Kg Rimba, Kg Tungku, Lambak, Jln Muara, Kg Salar, Sg Buloh, Kg Mentiri, Sg Basar, Kg Salambigar and Kg Sg Hanching were among the areas that experienced power outage, which started about 8.30pm.

However, power around the Muara area was restored at 9.50pm, while in Mentiri it was restored at 10.05pm, the department spokesperson said.

“Other areas might take longer until we repair the faulty cables,’’ he added.

The department said engineers were on site to restore power.

However, the spokesperson said ‘bad weather’ was slowing down the restoration works.
