Flooding in Tutong after 2 days of rain
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
SEVERAL areas in Tutong district were flooded after two days of rain, the Lamunin Fire Station reported.
A flood monitoring report stated that only trucks were able to pass through Kampung Benutan, as the village was the worst affected with 0.90m of floodwater level recorded.
The readings taken yesterday afternoon showed Jalan Bangkuru in Mukim Rambai to be under 0.40m of water, preventing saloon cars from passing by the area.
Jalan Kuala Ungar in Mukim Rambai was also reported to be inundated.
Motorists, however, were still able to use the road, the report added.
The Lamunin Fire Station operator said a more comprehensive report of the floods situation in Tutong would only be available today.
When contacted by The Brunei Times yesterday, the spokesperson of the National Disaster Management Centre said other flooded areas included Telanai, Kg Bebuloh in the Brunei-Muara district and Kiudang in Tutong.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Services Department recorded 115mm of rainfall on Monday.
The duty forecaster said the amount of rainfall was considered normal around the monsoon months of November until February.
