$1.3 million allocated for textbooks: report

A TOTAL of $1.3 million has been allocated for the provision of textbooks for 2013 to 2014, according to a news report by state broadcaster Radio Televisyen Brunei (RTB) last night.
The Ministry of Education, through its Curriculum Development Department, has been producing materials such as education syllabus, teachers’ guides, textbooks, workbooks and teaching aids, a senior official was quoted as saying.
Acting Director of Curriculum Department Hj Abd Rahman Hj Nawi said in line with the advancement of technology, the department has also diversified its curriculum to include the use of multimedia.
He added that materials from the Internet can assist students in education.
The department has carried out a pilot project at several schools, where students are provided with mini iPads or iPads for their lessons.
