TWO men and a woman charged with smuggling half a kilo of methamphetamine into Brunei have been further remanded pending the result of the analyst certificate.

On October 5, Noraini Mamudin, Muhammad Zainal Hj Jumat, and Haziman Ruwaidi Abd Samat were accused of smuggling 520gm of the clear crystalline substance, locally known as Syabu, into Brunei from Limbang.

Bringing in over 50gm of the Class A drug carries the death penalty. All three of the accused have yet to enter their plea on the charge.

The trio, represented by defence counsel Ahmad Zakaria, have been in remand since September. Their bail application has been dismissed by the High Court.

During the proceedings before Senior Magistrate Hj Nabil Daraina PUKDPSSU Hj Badaruddin, the trio indicated they were doing well in Jerudong Prison with their respective families visiting them.
