A BRUNEIAN now heads the ASEAN police chief’s association (ASEANAPOL) Secretariat following the appointment of Senior Assistant Commissioner Pg Dato Paduka Hj Abd Wahab Pg Hj Omar as its executive director earlier this week, a Channel News Asia report stated.

Pg Dato Hj Abd Wahab took over from Lieutenant General Sar Moline of Cambodia during a ceremony in Kuala Lumpur on Monday.

He will be tasked with stepping up regional cooperation to fight transnational crime, the report added. He will serve as ASEANAPOL’s executive director for two years beginning January 2014 until December 2015.

Pg Dato Hj Abd Wahab was previously RBPF’s director of Crime Investigation Department prior to the appointment.

ASEANAPOL began in 1981 to strengthen ASEAN member police organisations, exchange of information among agencies and law enforcement cooperation.
