Dikir ceremonies continue across the country

THE yearly dikir ritual for the upcoming Maulidur Rasul celebrations continued with various ministries starting their own recitals at mosques and religious halls nationwide, yesterday.
Muslims observe Maulidur Rasul, the anniversary of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), annually by organising events to promote awareness and remembrance of the Prophet.
A total of 200 officers and staff of Ministry of Development headed by its minister, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Suyoi Hj Osman, performed the Dikir Syarafil Anam at Sultan Syarif Ali Mosque in Kampung Sengkurong.
Also attending were permanent secretaries, Dato Paduka Hj Suhaimi Hj Gafar (Technical and Professional) and Hj Muhammad Lutfi Abdullah (Administration and Financial), head of departments, head of units, head of divisions, officers and staff of the ministry.
Tomorrow night, delegates from the ministry will attend the programme at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, Kampung Kiarong.
Meanwhile, two similar events were held in Temburong District.
The event held at Batu Apoi Mosque was organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The ministry’s Deputy Permanent Secretary Hj Harun Hj Junid attended the event alongside officers, staff and village residents.
The programme was organised to foster good ties among the congregants apart from celebrating the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The celebration started with the reading of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Hj Harun.
The ceremony organised by MoRA will continue at Al-Mashor Mosque in Kampung Sungai Mau in Belait District on Tuesday Jan 7 after the Maghrib prayer.
Meanwhile, the dikir event held at the Da’wah Post in Kg Selapon was organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The minister, Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Awang Badaruddin Pengarah Dato Paduka Hj Othman, attended as the guest of honour.
Also present were Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Hj Sulaiman Hj Ahad, the ministry’s permanent secretaries, Acting Temburong District Officer Hj Abdul Hamid Dato Paduka Hj Abdullah, head of departments, head of mukims and villages in the district.
The celebration started with mass Maghrib prayer led by Acting Imam of the Da’wah Post, Hj Sallehdiki Abdullah, followed by the recital of the dikir. It ended with congregants performing mass Isya’ prayer.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Education’s (MoE) Co-Curriculum Education Department and Department of Planning and Estate held their dikir event at the surau of Sultan Saiful Rijal Technical College (MTSSR).
Present at the event was Acting Director of Information Communication Technology, Hj Abd Rahian Derus, MoE officers and students from MTSSR.
The ministries will perform the activity for 12 consecutive days in all four districts.
The pinnacle of the celebration will be held on January 14, with a nationwide procession. The main procession will be carried out in the capital.
