Belait Charity Run slated for January 26

A BELAIT Charity Run will be held on January 26 at Mumong Sports Complex, Kuala Belait, the Belait District Office said in a statement yesterday.
The event is jointly organised by the Belait District Office, Ministry of Home Affairs, Youth and Sports Department in Belait, and Belait’s Co-curriculum Education Department.
There are two categories for male and female: five kilometres for 14 years old and below; seven kilometres open race for those between 15 and 50 years old; and five kilometres veteran for 50 years old and above.
There is also a three kilometres fun run open for all ages.
The run will start at 6.30am. The furthest route, seven kilometres will take competitors along Jalan Singa Menteri, towards the Kuala Belait/Seria Bypass. They will then run into Jalan Perumahan 2000 then out onto Jalan Keruak onwards to Jalan Parak. Finishing off they will go on Jalan Tengah/Belait/Seria finishing at Mumong Sports Complex.
One of the primary aims of the run is to raise funds for the Belait District Charity Fund, said the district office. It is also to raise public awareness and concern for the poor and disabled people in the district.
Additionally, the run aims to strengthen ties among the different races and ethnicities in the district and the country. The organisers also wish to encourage all walks of life to engage in recreational activities.
Terms of entry are limited to citizens and residents of the country.
The statement said that participants are required to fill in the forms provided by the district office. There will be a registration fee of $11.
Individuals under 14 years old must obtain the permission and authority of their parents or guardian to enter the charity run.
Completed forms should be returned to the Secretariat Belait District Charity Run, c/o Belait District Office, Pekerupa meeting room. The deadline for submitting the forms is at 4pm on January 11.
