THE search for 77-year-old Hjh Salbiah Metassan continued yesterday, with family members still expecting her safe return after disappearing five days ago.

In a phone interview with The Brunei Times, Hj Zunaidi, son of the missing senior citizen, said the family has not given up hope of finding his mother, and continued to pray for her well-being by performing mass Hajat prayers.

He said the family is still searching, together with the assistance of the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF).

Hj Zunaidi said his family and himself were still expecting her safe return, after she left their family home in Kg Lumapas on Tuesday morning.

He said his relatives had been on the receiving end of tip-offs by individuals who claimed to have seen her. However, none of the tip-offs proved useful.

“There should be no problem approaching her. She is not a forgetful woman and she is a very friendly and jovial person,” said Hj Zunaidi, who urged members of the public to pray for her safety.

When contacted, a police spokesperson said the elderly woman has yet to be found, and the search is still ongoing.

Social media went abuzz earlier this week of an image of the elderly woman, who is also known as Hjh Kina, who was reported to be last seen in the capital at around noon, according to previous police reports.

It was reported that Hjh Kina was believed to have proceeded to Kg Lupak Luas and Kg Sungai Kebun before stopping at a convenience store in the capital.

Those with any information on Hjh Kina or her whereabouts are to immediately contact 8876165, or the RBPF’s hotline at 993.

Alternatively, members of the public can call the Kampong Ayer Police Station at 2202114 or the nearest police station.
