Brunei-Muara teams win national Dikir competition final

TEAMS representing the Brunei-Muara District took the top prizes in both the male and female categories in the final of the national level Dikir Syarafil Anam competition yesterday.
The male team, Sidqul Abrar, and the female team, Al-Amirah, each won “Overall Performance” and “First Place” in their respective categories.
The Sidqul Abrar team representing Bunut Consultative Council, which comprises of Hj Abdanan Hj Md Salleh, Kapten (Rtd) Hj Mohamad Hj Mat Daud, Hj Adanan Hj Ahmad, Hj Mohd Daud Hj Abd Kadir, Khairul Musawwir Hj Muhammad Daud, Ahmad Muhazzib Haririe Hj Mat Daud and Sheikh Abd Aziz Sheikh Edham, scored 91.5 per cent.
As first prize winners, the team received a trophy, an $800 cash prize and a challenge trophy courtesy of Health Minister Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Adanan Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Hj Mohd Yusof.
The second prize went to Al-Muflihun team from Kuala Belait, who scored 84 per cent received a trophy and $600 cash prize.
In third place with 79.5 per cent was the Al-Mukminun team from Kiudang, who took home a trophy and $400 cash prize.
In the female category, the Al-Amirah team collected 87 per cent to emerge as the first place winner. They took home a trophy, an $800 cash prize and a challenge trophy courtesy of Home Affairs Minister Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Awang Badaruddin Pengarah Dato Paduka Hj Othman.
The team, representing Mentiri Consultative Council, comprised of Tamisah/Kamisah Hj Shawal, Siti Hara Hj Ongsang, Rini Rosli, Norfarida Hayati Hj Japar, Illmymesra Hj Ongsang, Rahimah Hidup and Ratinah Hidup.
The second prize winner went to Mujawharat team from Labu District in Temburong. They scored 80 per cent and brought home a trophy and a $600 cash prize, while third place went to An-Nur team from Telisai in Tutong, who brought home a trophy and a $400 cash prize.
The prizes were presented by the Home Affairs Minister.
A total of 10 groups, representing consultative councils in four districts, took part in the final competition organised by the Kota Batu Consultative Council and the Section of Village Head and District Penghulu, Brunei-Muara District Department.
The competition was organised in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan ofBrunei Darussalam’s 67th birthday celebration.
