A LAUNCHING to promote the Board of Architects Professional Engineers and Quantity Surveyors (APEQS) website and APEQS on-line registration was held yesterday at the foyer of the Ministry of Development.

With the launch of the website and online registration, interested parties can now register with the board at their own convenience, as well as seek out basic information through the webpage.

APEQS has been established to regulate the qualification and practice of architects, professional engineers and quantity surveyors, and the provision of architectural services, engineering and surveying professionals in Brunei by corporate bodies and partnerships from a variety of disciplines.

In compliance with the Architects, Professional Engineers and Quantity Surveyors Order 2011, APEQS was established at the Ministry of Development (MoD) on September 13, 2012 with the consent of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

In a previous report, it was stated that those who are unregistered with the board will not be able to practice in their field in Brunei.

This requirement is a basic professional qualification that meets the global standards of professionals, and once they are qualified, and have met with the requirements of the board, they will then be “licensed”.

Others present at the launch were MoD Permanent Secretary (Technical and Professional) Dato Paduka Hj Suhaimi Hj Gafar as chairman of APEQS, MoD Permanent Secretary (Administration and Finance) Muhammad Lutfi Abdullah, board members, head of departments, divisions, units and stakeholders.

The event was followed by a dialogue session.
