ADF participants share common vision

DELEGATES participating in the third ASEAN Disability Forum (ADF) heard that they all shared a common vision to empower persons with disablities, during an informal dinner at The Rizqun International Hotel’s Songket Hall.

The forum’s co-chairman, Hj Zainal Hj Momin, said: “The forum aims to gather the collective experiences and reviews from the visiting delegation to help the 90 million disabled individuals in the ASEAN countries.

“Despite the cultural and geographical differences, we (all) share a common vision of empowering the Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and their community.”

Discussions today will revolve around sharing experiences and views regarding the theme of the forum, “Social development for all, reduce poverty and enhance employment prospects”.

Hj Zainal also said that all sectors and the public have to work together for the benefit of PwDs to ensure they have equal rights and full participation in society.

Present for the dinner was Senior Trustee at Pusat Ehsan Dato Paduka Mohd Alimin Abd Wahab, who was also co-chairperson of the forum.

Dato Mohd Alimin told The Brunei Times that there are plans for a Disability Council to be set up in the near future, which would give the nine Disabled People’s Organisations to have a single voice, however did not elaborate further.
