KUPU SB inks MoU with M’sian colleges

THE Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College (KUPU SB) achieved another milestone yesterday with the signing of memorandums of understanding (MoU) with Malaysia’s Kolej Pengajian Islam Johor (MARSAH) and Kolej Dar Al-Hikmah Selangor (KDH).

The signing in the afternoon, came after KUPU SB celebrated its third convocation at the International Convention Centre yesterday morning.

Signing the MoU on behalf of KUPU SB was its ra’es, Dr Hjh Masnon Hj Ibrahim and KUPU SB’s Acting Registrar Pg Anak Hj Damit Baharuddin Pg Anak Safiuddin.

Signing on behalf of Kolej Pengajian Islam Johor was Professor Dr Mohamad@Md Som Sujimon, its Chief Executive and Professor Bustam Kamri, Deputy Chief Executive (Academic).

For Kolej Dar Al-Hikmah Selangor, Chief Executive Hj Md Fuad Bahari and Ab Halim Hj Ismail , board member of Bina Ilmu Sdn Bhd represented the college.

Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Religious Affairs Dato Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Abdul Aziz Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Hj Yusof witnessed the signing at Badi’ah hotel.

In her welcoming speech, Dr Hjh Masnon said the MoUs will speed up KUPU SB implementation of its strategic plan that focused on building up relationships with communities and international cooperation.

Dr Hjh Masnon said Kolej Pengajian Islam Johor had greatly contributed to the establishment of religious schools and the religious education system when it first started in 1956.

This religious education system is still implemented and further enforced by the Compulsory Religious Education Order 2012, she added.

Kolej Dar Al-Hikmah also played a role in the establishment of KUPU SB, said the raes, through assistance in management and setting up the academic programmes framework for KUPU SB.

Dr Hjh Masnon expressed hopes that by signing the MoUs, KUPU SB will continue to elevate its status as a religious educational institution in the region and the international arena.
