Minister attends Nat’l Women’s Day Celebration in Timor Leste

EQUAL opportunities for women will empower them to effectively contribute to developments of family, society and nation, said The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Hj Hazair Hj Abdullah during the 36th Anniversary of National Women’s Day Celebration held in Dili, Timor Leste.

In a press release issued yesterday, the importance of regional and international cooperation is highlighted especially to defend women’s rights on opportunities like education, training, healthcare, employment, and business opportunities, ownership of assets as well as justice and protection against any form of violence.

A meeting was also held with the Secretary of State for the Promotion of Gender Equality of Timor Leste, Her Excellency Imelda Maria Rodrigues, to explore the possibility of establishing cooperation in the field of Gender Equality and Protection of Women and Children.

Relating to this, Brunei Darussalam assured the continuous effort to work with regional and global communities in improving the quality and standards of living among women, inclusive of their justice and well-being.
