His Majesty to attend 6th Bali Forum

HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam is scheduled to attend the sixth Bali Democracy Forum (BDF) in Indonesia tomorrow.

The intergovernmental forum, initiated by the Indonesian government in 2008, is an annual event attended by foreign ministers from the Asia-Pacific region.

The BDF, which is inclusive and open, is designed to promote dialogue, cooperation, good governance and political development through the sharing of experiences and best practices.

This year the forum will carry the theme “Consolidating Democracy in Pluralistic Society”.

According to the tentative schedule for tomorrow, His Majesty will be speaking after an opening statement by Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr R M Marty M Natalegawa and President Dr Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

This will be followed by a statement by Prime Minister of Timor-Leste Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao.

There will then be a general debate by ministers, vice ministers and heads of delegations chaired by Dr Natalegawa.
