Their Majesties attend Majlis Bersanding
HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha graced the double Majlis Bersanding (wedding reception) of two special brides and grooms at Indera Samudra Hall, The Empire Hotel & Country Club, yesterday.
The wedding ceremony for the two couples: Dhau’iyah Abdullah and Ak Abu Bakaruddin Shah Dinny Pg Hj Kamaruddin and Mas’udah Abdullah and her groom Ak Hj Muhammad Ali-Yusrin Pg Dato Paduka Hj Sani was witnessed by the Royal Family and more than 500 special guests.
Attending the ceremony were HRH Prince Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; HRH Paduka Seri Pg Anak Isteri Pg Anak Sarah; HRH Prince Hj Sufri Bolkiah and HRH Prince Hj Jefri Bolkiah.
Other Royal Family members attending the double wedding were HRH Prince ‘Abdul Malik, HRH Prince ‘Abdul Wakeel, HRH Princess Hjh Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah, HRH Princess Hjh Muta-Wakillah Hayatul Bolkiah and HRH Princess Hjh Majeedah Nuurul Bolkiah.
HRH Princess Hjh Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah; HRH Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah; HRH Princess Hjh Masna; HRH Princess Hjh Amal Umi Kalthum; HRH Princess Hjh Amal Rakiah; HRH Princess Hjh Amal Jefriah; and mother of Her Majesty, YTM Pengiran Babu Raja Pengiran Anak Hjh Besar Pengiran Anak Hj Metassan.
The ceremony started at 2.30pm with His Majesty and Her majesty and other Royal guests sitting at the centre stage while waiting for the traditional processions of the brides and grooms.
Both brides, clad in a fusion of traditional and modern wedding costumes, were ushered to the dais, which was decorated to look like a white, enchanted forest, followed by their respective grooms a few minutes later.
A special doa (prayer) for both couples was led by State Mufti Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Dr Ustaz Hj Abdul Aziz Juned.
Both couples then took pictures with the Royal Family before they were ushered to a private room where the guests dined.
Among the local guests and foreign envoys present at the ceremony were Pengiran-Pengiran Cheterias, Cabinet ministers, deputy Cabinet ministers, permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries, senior government officials and family members.
On Saturday, His Majesty and other members of the Royal Family attended the Majlis Berbedak, one of several ceremonies held during wedding celebrations in Brunei Darussalam.
The main solemnised ceremony or Akad Nikah for Dhau’iyah and her groom Ak Abu Bakaruddin was performed last Thursday, while the ceremony for Mas’udah and her groom Ak Hj Muhammad Ali-Yusrin took place on Friday.
