Man accused of possessing homemade rifle, bullets

A MAN accused of possessing a homemade rifle and bullets is claiming trial before the Intermediate Court after he and his co-accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Faizal Mohammad Handany @ Danny Hj Sazali, 32, is accused of possessing 471 bullets and a homemade rifle without a licence issued by the licensing officer on January 19.

Lance Corporal Hj Mohamad Azeri Hj Bakri, 27, has been charged with supplying the bullets to Faizal, while 37-year-old Sahrum Hj Dayman has been charged with providing Faizal with the homemade rifle and 12 bullets.

The offence for possession and abetment in arms and explosives carries a 15-year jail term and up to 12 strokes of the cane.

The trio is represented by Defence Counsel Yusof Halim from Sankaran Halim Advocates and Solicitors, while Ratno Eddy Sophian Hj Zaidi is the prosecuting officer at the trial.

Presiding Intermediate Court Judge Pg Hjh Hanani Pg Hj Metusain has scheduled the trial to begin on February 10, 2014.
