Improving command of English in the army stressed

THE importance of improving the knowledge in English Language as a means of communication was highlighted by Commandant of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Training Institute during the opening ceremony for English Language course for foreign armed forces yesterday.

Lieutenant Colonel Hasmee Hj Abd Wahab said that it is essential to master English as the language is regarded as an official language especially in its role in the ASEAN movement.

The Evolution Centre Training Institute of RBAF has been successful in conducting English language courses for the past three years.

It has received encouraging participants from six countries such as Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Indonesia.

The intake marks a milestone as Myanmar and Thailand will join the course for the first time, according to a press statement by the Ministry of Defence.

Among the course participants are lieutenant colonels, majors, captains, lieutenants, warrant officers and sergeants. Also present at the event were members of the diplomatic corp and their respective attachés.
