Nationwide korban ceremonies continue

THE State Mufti’s Office and other ministries held korban ceremonies and distributed portions of the sacrificial meat to mark Aidil Adha yesterday.

In a collaborative effort between the State Mufti’s Office and Royal Brunei Airlines, 16 cows and five goats were slaughtered.

The meat was distributed to 205 poor and destitute families from Mukim Pengkalan Batu at the sub-district’s community hall yesterday.

State Mufti Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Hj Abdul Aziz Juned presented the meat to the recipients. Representing Royal Brunei Airlines was Deputy Chief Operating Officer Captain Khalidkhan Asmakhan.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education held its korban ceremony, with nine cows and five goats sacrificed.

A total of 76 recipients from Mukim Berakas ‘A’ and Mukim Berakas ‘B’ received the meat from Acting Minister of Education Dato Seri Setia Hj Yusoff Hj Ismail.

Development Minister Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Suyoi Hj Osman also presented meat to 175 recipients in another ceremony at the ministry’s Training Centre.

During the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources’s korban event, its minister, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Hj Yahya egawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar, presented meat to 133 recipients.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs’ korban ceremony saw the slaughtering of four cattles and four buffaloes.

Minister Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Mohammad Pg Hj Abdul Rahman distributed the meat to 74 poor and destitute recipients registered with the Brunei Islamic Religious Council.

The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Pekerma Royal Dato Seri Setia Hj Hazair Hj Abdullah also distributed meat to underprivileged recipients and its staff during his ministry’s korban event. Yesterday marked the end of the korban ceremonies.
