MoRA begins first series of tadarus

BRUNEI welcomed the month of Ramadhan with mass tarawih prayers and tadarus Al-Quran (mass recitation of Al-Quran) in mosques, surau and religious halls nationwide.
The tadarus opening ceremony was held at the Jame Asr' Hassanil Bolkiah. The ceremony saw the attendance of the Minister of Religious Affairs, Yang Berhormat Pg Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Muhammad Pg Hj Abdul Rahman.
A secretariat made up of the Administration Department and Mosque Affairs Department of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) will be visiting mosques in the country's four districts to conduct tadarus according to their schedule.
A press statement from the Mosque Affairs Department, MoRA, said the members of the congregation include the ministry's Permanent Secretaries Dato Paduka Sa Bali Abas and Hj Abdul Aziz OKML Hj Mohd Yussof, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Hj Harun Hj Junid as well as senior officials.
The Minister of Religious Affairs led the recitation of Surah al-Fatihah followed by the recitation of Surah al-Baqarah, by the members of the congregation.
Meanwhile, 30 officers from the Prisons Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs gathered at at the Sultan Omar 'Ali Saifuddien (SOAS) Mosque for a similar event.
Present as the Guest of Honour is the Prisons Department Acting Director Hj Zainal Hj Ismail who initiated the event by reading the Surah Al-Fatihah.
This was followed by a collective reading of the Surah Al-Baqarah by the congregation.
The event ended with the doa read by Pehin Khatib Hj Emran Hj Kunchang.
It was also attended by other officers from government agencies.
Tadarus was one of the many activities organised to enliven Ramadhan, increase amal ibadah (act of worship) as well as foster closer relationship amongst the ministry's personnel.
