Brunei-Indonesia consular assistance agreement signed

HIS Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade yesterday signed the agreement on consulate notification and consular assistance, and the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Diplomatic Education and Training with Indonesia.

Signing on behalf of the neighbouring republic was Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr RM Marty M Natalegawa.

Held at the International Convention Centre in Bali, the ministers reviewed bilateral, regional and international cooperation. They expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved in bilateral relations, and stressed the importance of continuing efforts to strengthen strong ties.

Cooperation between Brunei and Indonesia covers a wide range of areas including trade, defence, labour, education, health and communications.

Co-chairing the meeting of the Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation, His Royal Highness yesterday afternoon attended the meeting of the Southeast Asian Nuclear Weapons Free-Zone (SEANWFZ) Commission.
