STATE Legislative Council (LegCo) member Dato Paduka Hj Puasa Orang Kaya Seri Pahlawan Tudin during the fifth day of the sixth LegCo session raised the issue of what is to be done with the long-abandoned building situated alongside the Kianggeh River near the Malay Teachers' Association of Brunei (PGGMB) building in the capital.

Dato Hj Puasa enquired as to what the Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) Municipal Board has planned with regards to fixing the building, which has been left abandoned for years and become an eyesore for tourists and local residents alike.

In response, Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Adanan Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Hj Mohd Yusof explained that the owner of the abandoned building has a "financial problem", a problem long known.

He added that several discussions have been conducted with a representative of the owner in dealing with the issue.

However, the minister said that a solution still had yet to be reached.

Pehin Dato Hj Adanan added that the issue has been made complicated as it involves a financial problem that is tied in with the owner's bank financing project.

The Home Affairs Minister said that the Municipal Board should look into this matter seriously and assured that the matter will be looked into in search for a solution to the problem.
