HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday attended the funeral of YAM Pengiran Sura Negara Pengiran Anak Hj Muhammad Bey Muntassir Pengiran Indera Mahkota Pengiran Anak (Dr) Kemaludin Al-Haj at his residence Baitul 'Athirah in Beribi, according to a report by Radio Televisyen Brunei (RTB).

Also present was Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha accompanied by Her Royal Highness Pengiran Isteri Azrinaz Mazhar and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Sarah.

His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Her Royal Highness Pg Anak Isteri Pg Anak Hjh Zariah, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, Pg Bini Datin Hjh Faezah, His Royal Highness Prince Jefri Bolkiah, His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik and His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen, Her Royal Highness Princess Hafizah Sururul Bulqiah, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna and other members of the Royal family were also present at the funeral.

The prayers were led by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Hj Abdul Aziz Juned.

The late YAM Pengiran Sura Negara Pengiran Anak Hj Muhammad Bey Muntassir was married to Her Royal Highness Princess Hjh Jeffriah, the younger sister of His Majesty the Sultan.

The late YAM passed away on November 25 at the age of 53 and is survived by three sons and two daughters.

He was the son of YAM Pengiran Indera Mahkota Pengiran Anak (Dr) Kemaludin Al-Haj ibni Al-Marhum Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Anak Hj Mohd Yassin, State Legislative Council Speaker.

The late YAM was laid to rest at the Royal Mausoleum.

According to the report by RTB, during the late YAM's lifetime, His Majesty the Sultan had consented to grant the late YAM the title "YAM Pengiran Sura Negara" on March 21, 1981.

He was also awarded several Orders and Decorations as well Honourable Medals, which include the Darjat Terbesar Laila Utama.

The late YAM was also a prominent businessman and actively involved in community works.

Syariah High Court Judge Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Hj Salim Hj Besar led the recitation of tahlil yesterday.

Meanwhile the talqin recital was read by Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Badaruddin Pengarah Dato Paduka Hj Othman, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs.
