Government agencies continue prayers for HM’s late parents

MINISTRIES and government agencies continue to offer prayers for the late parents of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam at the Royal Mausoleum yesterday.

The Office of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam conducted the tahlil (prayers for the deceased) ceremony, which was attended by Pehin Orang Kaya Shahbandar Dato Seri Setia Hj Mohd Nawawi, the private and confidential secretary to His Majesty, along with around 150 personnel from His Majesty's Office.

Leading the recital of the Surah Yassin and the doa was the office's religious teacher from the Hassanal Bolkiah Boys Arabic Secondary School, Ustaz Hj Abdul Rahman Mahmuda.

The prayers were for Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien who passed away on September 7, 1986, and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit who passed away on September 13, 1979.

A similar ceremony was also conducted by the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation (YSHHB). Minister of Communications Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Hj Abu Bakar Hj Apong, who is also the chairman of YSHHB's Board of Directors, was present at the ceremony.

Also present were YSHHB's staff and teachers from the YSHHB School and residents from Kg Bolkiah 'A' and 'B' in Mukim Sungai Kebun.

Religious Officer from the Ministry of Religious Affairs Pehin Khatib Hj Mustafa Hj Murad led the recital of the Surah Yassin and the doa.

Meanwhile, the Royal Customs and Excise Department also held a tahlil ceremony yesterday. Some 80 senior officials and staff of the department attended the ceremony, including Acting Controller of Royal Customs and Execise Yahya Hj Idris.

Leading the recital of the Surah Yassin and the doa was the department's senior enforcement officer, Abd Rahim BPSKDSS Hj Mohd Tamin. (KAY1)
