Ramadhan begins tomorrow

BY CONSENT of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Muslims in the country will begin fasting tomorrow (Saturday), August 22, as the Ramadhan moon could not be sighted at all four assigned places of the Sultanate, yesterday.

Bukit Shahbandar in Jerudong, Bukit Ambok and Padang Tembak Bukit Agok in Tutong and Bukit Lumut in Belait were the places that were dedicated for the moon-sighting activity.

The announcement for the first day of Ramadhan was broadcast through the radio and RTB by the high court Syarie judge Dato Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Md Zaimi Hj Talip.

The office hours during Ramadhan for the government would be from 8am to 2pm, while those who are working on daily wages will stop working one hour earlier from the normal working hours and start working depending on the consideration of the departments concerned. Tarawih prayers followed by Tadarus ceremony will commence throughout the country after Isyak prayers today. (ADI1)
