AS PART of HSBC's annual recruitment drive, students at Universiti Brunei Darussalam had the opportunity to glean firsthand the operations of a leading global financial institution from none other than its Chief Executive Officer.

Tareq Muhmood, who helms HSBC Brunei, last Monday presented an overview of the financial management world to some 70 undergraduates from UBD's Faculty of Business, Economics and Policy Studies.

The presentation included the concepts, challenges as well as rewards and opportunities to be had when working with a bank like HSBC.

Muhmood also addressed, with his personal insights, the current business environment, both locally and globally, including how businesses and economies are able to sustain growth and competition in the current globalised environment.

He also talked about career prospects at HSBC, including staff training and activities that made up the HSBC Cares programme, stressing HSBC's commitment to supporting education, the environment and community, locally and worldwide.

HSBC customers were rewarded via the Premier Acquisition Campaign draw last Tuesday, with six joint-account holders receiving prizes.

Hong Kim Seng and Lim Soo Lian won a 50-inch Sony Projection TV, Chia Siew Chow and Nyau Mee Ging won a 0.61-carat uncut diamond while Dr Sekaran Nair Godwin and Ken Khi Nair won an iMac.

Five customers also won $1,000 each in the "Yes, You!" promotion. The lucky winners were Marcus Fung Yoon Onn, Osman Hj Pungut, Alan Richard Cole, Lim Ching Kok and joint accountholders Susie Wong Su Chiew and Cheryl Low Li Choo.

The promotion ends with a grand draw prize of $60,000 next month.
