SOME 50 radio listeners joined their favourite radio programme host, DJ Mei Ting, and Cecilia Lee, manager of IA Salon on a visit to Brunei’s largest blue shrimp farm in Tutong, Golden Corporation Sdn Bhd.

The outdoor activity was organised by Radio Televisyen Brunei (RTB) Pilihan radio station’s Mandarin programme, ‘Women’s Vitamin’.

The programme is aired every Tuesday morning and talks about trendy lifestyle, travel experiences, food and dining, as well as beauty and health tips.

The visitors were welcomed by Golden Corporation Sdn Bhd’s Managing Director Richard Chuang Hsi Shan and his team. With over 20 years of experience in handling seafood products and managing the entire process from hatchery to grow-out farm and processing plant, Richard shared his personal experience.

According to a press statement, he compared the size of his shrimp farming sites to that of over 50 football fields. Golden Corporation also owns almost 20 fishing vessels that support its fishing of marlins, tuna and seafood that ordinary fishing boats cannot reach.

Majority of its production support exports to neighbouring countries such as Japan, China, Malaysia, Philippines and more with each packaging sealed for freshness and local touch.

The visit’s highlight was the cooking competition participated by the listeners and their family members. It involved cooking a prawn dish within 20 minutes, using ingredients prepared by Sorisso Restaurant and Pizzeria.

Dishes were judged according to taste, presentation and creativity.

Restaurant owner Chef Salvo also did a cooking demonstration with his special Italian prawn recipe ‘Prawn Thermidor’ which uses fresh blue prawns from Golden Corporation.

“We hope to organise more outdoor trips with our dear listeners who have been very supportive of our programme throughout the years. We don’t just travel together but most importantly, we make sure to bring our listeners to places worth to go, worth to spend and worth to create memories with,” said Cecilia.

DJ Mei Ting also expressed her gratitude to Golden Corporation Sdn Bhd, Sorisso Restaurant, IA Salon and all the listeners and their families who took part in the outdoor activity.
