Reunion Of Schoolmates
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
IT WAS a jolly atmosphere at De’ Layar Seafood Restaurant and Catering recently as 91 former students of Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien College (SOASC) gathered for a reunion.
The breakfast get-together was attended by the college’s Secondary Four and Five classes of 1975/76. Over a course of three hours, the former classmates and schoolmates, who are mostly pensioners, caught up with one another over a spread of scrumptious food. They were also entertained with a poem recital by one of the alumni.
“This is our first big gathering after more than 40 years of not seeing each other,” said one of the former students, Sazali Hj Abd Kahar.
“We had some small ones but not everyone was there. This is the time to mingle and update one another after a long time,” he added.
Apart from the get-together, the group also held prayers for those who have passed on. “Prior to the reunion, we also held prayers and recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah for our deceased classmates. These kinds of activities help strengthen our friendship,” said Sazali.
